Buddha's New Baby Brother

Back in December or so, one of the people who helped us a lot with taking care of Buddha asked if we would consider taking on another rescue. Between the holiday craziness and Buddha's health problems, it didn't come to fruition until today, but now he's come to join our little family. This new cat, a black and white domestic shorthair named Dasher, is also FIV positive and had apparently been "next to go" at the shelter for months, but was so affectionate that the shelter staff just couldn't bring themselves to euthanize him.

He's currently sequestered in the guestroom to give him and Buddha some time to get used to each others' presence and scent. We'll post some pics when we have 'em; for now we're just going to see how it works out.

MooiVos: Ohhhh, Buddha is going to be beside himself!
Camstone: Do Buddists actually practice 'out of body projection?"

Once you start, you can't stop at just one ;)

You're trying to become "that weird guy with the cats," aren't you. :)

Let's assume your two kit kats the magnus live for about 15 years. After they go over the moon, then how long or how much cleaning can you do to make sure if you got new cats, they wouldn't catch FIV?

I hope it works out... sounds sweet!

Double the cats, double the fun! Well done for taking him on, and I look forward to more cat tales.

What do you mean? I'm already a weird guy with cats.

I don't know really, I'd have to ask a vet. But generally it's transmitted via bites or scratches, so I can't imagine just being around the house is a problem.

More like a male equivalent to "The Crazy Cat Lady."
