Bonan the Contrarian

Well, I DLed a demo version of the Conan game for PC, but all it did was crash at me. :P I decided therefore to grab the X-Box version off of eBay, which cost me £9.99 including postage (or ~$19.50 US). We'll see if it's any good; in the meantime, I've got no outlet for my desire to crush my enemies, drive them before me, and hear the lamentations of their women.

Alas!

The closest thing I've got is various D&D computer games, which don't quite have that engaging feel. I don't want to sit back and watch my character chopping up monsters (a la Icewind Dale or Neverwinter Nights), I want to be mashing buttons and jumping all around the terrain (a la Tomb Raider).

I suppose I could carve foes up with my lightsaber in Jedi Knight ... but that's aliens and deckplates rather than swords and sorcery.

Woe, to be a picky gamer!

PS: What I really want is for somebody to run this. Although I'd happily play a D&D barbarian too.

This is why I made my battle scripts for IRC. Maybe one of these days I can dust them off when time permits (say, late january?) and it'd be a good way to blow an evening online with all your friends and such?

Lizard Rat out.

I'd gladly play it too, but you know I know less about it than you do, so running it wouldn't work for me so well. -Frisk

Balls of Steel Pinball has a Barbarian table with a faux Arnie yelling things like "Die, Demon!" and "Feel my steel!"

Are Xboxes universal formats for UK and US games? Or is your Xbox chipped / adapted for UK games?

Alas, no. See my next post. -.-

I've been looking around and because UK PAL delivers at a different framerate, resolution etc to US NTSC the game won't be compatible.

I've searched to see if there are any PAL-NTSC coverters for Xboxes, but they only make them for PS1/PS2.

May I suggest that you get a US Nintendo GameCube and then buy a UK copy of the game? I've been told that GC games are universal for any country and if GC prices in America are like the ones over here then they'll only be about $70-80. Amazon.co.uk currently have a 2nd hand copy of the game selling for $14
