The myriad references to "easier, more streamlined play" in 4.0 are setting off quite a few alarms with me. I'm hoping they manage to actually improve the parts that need work, but I can't help getting flashbacks to some of the other examples of "streamlining" I've seen. Mechwarrior: Dark Age replacing classic Battletech comes to mind. Granted, that is something of an extreme example, and I know WoTC wouldn't go anywhere near that far with D&D, but it still makes me a bit nervous.

Still, worst comes to worst, I just keep on running my games with 3.5 rules, anyway.
