Greetings From Windows XP

Well, the "Recovery Disk" that came with my HP Pavilion was garbage -- big surprise there -- so I went to Best Buy and got a copy of Windows XP. After a bit of fighting with it to convince it that yes, I did have a hard drive, it is now installed and seems to be running happily ... if a bit on the pokey side.

The true test will come when I fire up Photoshop ... later.

But for now, I exist! Yay. :)

ERF? Why would you need a whole copy of XP? The recovery disk is just going to reset everything to factory originals, not really install any new OS.

The recovery disk was supposed to have an option to reformat and reinstall -- except when it tried to do FDisk, it hung every time. Just as well, I suspect Win98 is where half of my difficulties lay anyhow. -TG

Win98? Don't tell me you upgrade from Win98 to XP!

And I got a few copies of both too....

I'm with Spiked on this one. 98 is much less of a resource hog and much more, ah, adjustable than XP ever will be.

But Neko's crazy idea that a Mac is better than a PC is just silly. Number one, the file system on a Macintosh OS of any level wastes waaaay too much space...
