Wanna Do Some D&D

Don't wanna bother with things like strategy or plot, mind you ... wanna play a 15th level CN BBN/FTR/RGR with a battle axe in one hand and a handaxe in the other, wading through orcs and gnolls in a crazed battle-fury to get to their cultist leader at the other end of the room and cleave off his diabolical head -- just as the ceremony ends and the balrog is summoned...

Raarrrr!

That's not so strange, is it?

PS: Fighter/Mage! Feh. What was I thinking?

Heh. Take that barbarian, strip 'im down and give him an Amulet of Natural Armor, Bull Strength, and a few other pump-up spells before hand, then wade in, smash heads, and sit back to watch the fun :) Really throw the fear of Kord into them before they die, no? :)

Fighter Mage? *grin* I made the same mistake. By the time I could memorize 3rd level spells, the story was over and I'd had my bones removed and been turned inside out by a Marilith before being given paper cuts and dipped in a vat of alcohol and Mt. Dew. And yes, I was still alive...

Lizard Rat out.

Aw!

I'm a Ranger/Rogue. Who only uses the Cat's Grace an one or two heal spells. I focus all my points in stealth.
You cant kill what you cant see! whahaha!! I do decent dmg, but even so, if they cant find me, i can pick them off point by point! ;)

And it sounds normal. We all have the urge to just go out an beat up stuff like a valient hero. ^.^'

You were thinking that it would be alot like Hero and you could be a little of each and it would be really cool. until the rules failed to be as good in that regard as Hero can be. ANd, myself, I want to be Kyriela at level 15, in the same situation. She will mop the room of those Orcs and Gnolls and not even have to step one dainty little foot inside where the Orcs and Gnolls can even see her. Plus, she can get to that Cultist leader before he casts a single spell. -Frisk

Keep in mind, these are levelled-up orcs and gnolls and the cultist is at least CLR 10 / Necromancer 6 himself.

Besides, there's still the balrog to deal with ... CR 18, 13d8+52 HD, and oh, look, +1 vorpal greatsword as standard equipment!

Kyriela can still take them. Come the time she's 15th level, she'll have a normal mages amount of spells to cast, plus 10 additional slots granted to her by the Mystic class. She may only be able to cast 6th level spells, but she can cast one heck of a lot of them and 4 of them are secret spells, hyped up versions only she knows how to cast. And I'm always hoping she has some cooler wizardry magic items to make her look even worse when she runs into such "problems". -Frisk

Rogue/Fighter combos seem to work pretty well. You get all the advantages of being able to stab someone in the face, combined with a heck of a lot of skill points to put into Hide and Move Silent. :) And if you can get your hands on the rapier blade from Savage Species, the one that negates Dex Bonuses when you attack, you get your +Xd6 bonus on each hit. :D

Fighter-Smiter! When your fighter can stab a warlord for 11d6 + Str bonus + Weapon bonus... Then I'll be impressed. Just watch out for stuff you can't backstab/flank and things like that, like undead.
