I volunteered to do a panel about "penciling" at Further Confusion, as I did last year and at various other cons. Today, I noticed this description on the schedule:
Um ... I hope that's not supposed to be me, because I don't have a clue about any of that stuff. In my lexicon, "penciling" is what you do to lay down the foundations of an image before you go back over it in ink. As for using charcoals or various-hardness pencils as a medium, I don't have anything more than just the basics you could learn in 10 minutes by looking at an art instruction book. My sketches are all done with a 0.7 mechanical pencil!
I've sent a note to the events track e-mail box, but the con program has already gone to the printer. Erf.
