Could be worst... Could be DA. Makes me glad I have Adblock Plus and good AV, since I've had virii ads hit me there. And also DA's rotating Terms of Use issues.
I keep forgetting Artspots exists...very few artists I know use it that don't also use FA (or use it, period). You're one of the only ones, and you post your stuff here ^ ^;;
Most thumbnails just look like little gray blobs to me, and so I don't click on 'em. I prefer at least a 100x100 preview so I can have an idea of what I might be going to look at.
As for the navigation seeming the same, all I can guess is that we're looking at different sites or something, they seem like night and day. Artspots: If I want to see a user's gallery, I click on them and I'm right there. FA: If I want to see a user's gallery, I click on them and get a page that looks exactly like the page I was just on with a bunch of random thumbnails from twenty different users. Artspots: If I want to see an enlarged image, I click on it. FA: If I want to see an enlarged image, I click on it, get the same image, click on it again, and then get the enlarged image. And so on. It's not a single thing, it's the cumulative effect of just about everything being the opposite of how I'd rather it worked.

PS: And that's before the whole "I can't look at it at work" problem.
FA's gallery thumbnails are 100x100 (granted, you have to create and upload them yourself or they're the shrunken blobs), and 300x300 in the artist's most recent area of the profile page.
Artspots: I click through, and I see a bio, and a bunch of watches and favorites. I have to scroll down to see any art, the most recent images. FA: I click through, and I see a bio, a journal, and provided the bio isn't too long-winded, usually at least one sample image is immediately visible. I scroll down to see the most recent images. The most recent thumbnails are more compacted than Artspots, but the rollover preview is larger than the thumbnails on Artspots. How different is that?
You need to change your FA settings. The enlarged image will be the first thing visible if you set it that way.
Well, you just need to stop looking at naughty artists then!
I wonder if we're both referring to differences between being logged in or not...

That's a good point. I really hated FA until I got an account, and then it got much easier to manage. Seems like a minor form of extortion, but still, I found it a small price to pay.
FWIW, the option to go to a submission's full view by default is on the page where you edit your profile (http://www.furaffinity.net/controls/profile/), as opposed to "Site Settings", where it logically should be. Just one more thing on the FA's UI Is Stoopid list, I guess.
I dunno. The last person who told me, "Oh, she's on FA" got a lengthy rant, complete with arm waving and a few angry hops because I am tired of them telling me that I should know someone because he/she is on FA.
Meh I flock there because there are few other places. I have a DA account which to me is nice because I gots a free premium year and don't have to worry about advertising I did come up with reasons to like and dislike each though:
Fur Affinity: Like - Acceptable environment, good functionality and pretty reliable. Dislike - Can be the cause of over-flooding of artwork and journals. Very high drama content, absolutely no restrictions to morality or dignity.
Deviant Art: Like - Minimal advertisements, High quality artists present, spam and block filters are pretty good. Dislike - Top spots always have images with grotesque nudity and "My Space Slut"-esque pictures are regarded as "Premium" quality. Unable to browse the top spots or daily deviations at work. Premium account status seems to be the best way to fully enjoy and overcome the limits of customization.
Y! Gallery (Yaoi Gallery): Like - Consistent artwork, easy mass distributions to common groups, overall a good crew and community. Dislike: As expected no female artwork (no major issues there) copious rules and restrictions to submissions
It's hard to find a place where everything is welcome. I used to be in Sheezy Art, and somewhere along the lines the 'H' turned into an 'L' but those three consistently one or the other, or the other welcome each style of my submissions... can't like or dislike any of them completely so I just run with it.
Eh, I don't really want "everything" to be welcome anyway. Because then all that shows up is stuff I don't really want to see (and especially not while I'm at work).
Yeah that's why I can't browse......really any of those sites while I'm at work. I do wish they could have an option to 'turn on' or 'turn off' the adult filters without having to go into your account settings.
I've gotten used to FA, out of necessity mostly. It's the only place where I can see everyone (more or less) who's work I want to follow in one place. I still use ArtSpots when I only want to see what my favorite artists are up to - I watch nearly 1000 people on FA, so it's easy for things to get lost in the crowd.
I just hope the new interface design that Adam Wan is working on is a functional improvement, not just a visual one (assuming, of course, that FA's coders actually manage to implement it).
I've also gotten used to the little "quirks" of FA too. I dont like the interface, and even though they have increased the bandwidth I still get broken graphics.
I wish there was a limit on how many things can be posted by one user in a 12 hr period. After FC there were hundreds of photos from the con.
ArtSpots does not allow writing. Thus, I am on FA. As for the non-porn/absolutely ignored bit from Mapdark...no offense, Map, but I don't always post the naughty, and I don't get ignored. However, I will agree that the naughty equals more attention.
Fortunately, I post what I want to post. I bow down to no one but you, Gneech. And that's only when you want music. :D
I use both FA and DA because they are the sight that I am familiar with. I , however , just have some nonproofread fictional writing I do so if I get page views at all I am amazed.
I miss Furry Art Pile (aka FAP). That was a really well-designed furry art site, which was really starting to get attention... and then the owner decided it was too much work and just took it down, rather than let someone else take over. x.x
I'm curious to see how Blue Taboo does when it comes online. Supposedly it's inspired by ArtSpots' interface, but we'll have to see if it can pick up the kind of volume FA has.
Also, I figure most people prefer browsing fewer art sites than more. The more art sites, blog sites, news sites, comics sites, etc. one checks daily, the more tiring the internet can be.
So, I figure, people are NOT going to go to a new site unless it offers something they want that they cannot get anywhere else.
Another thing I think is very important is that a site makes it easy for me to catch up on anything I've missed if I don't visit it for a few days.
I don't understand the difference. Do you mean messages and submissions are integrated, mixed together in the same catch-up list? If so, is that customizable? What if I prefer them separated?

Boo, FA! Tiny icons and random links that don't go where they say they're going to FTL!

I've never had trouble with random links. I also fail to understand how the navigation is better on Artspots...seems like the same thing to me?
