Con Casualty

On Friday morning, I pulled out my little Rubbermaid container that held my beloved, gray kneaded eraser and put it on the table in the dealer's room ... by Friday night, I had no clue where it was, and I still don't. I had assumed that I'd just put it somewhere "out of the way" and it would turn up when I packed up the table or emptied my backpack this morning, but no luck.

I sorta feel like the 5th Doctor when the sonic screwdriver got blasted -- "It's like I've lost an old friend!" It was just a little gray lump of clay, inherited from [livejournal.com profile] lythandra many years ago when I was working on the original NeverNever strips, but there was a lot of art tied up with that little gray lump.

Farewell, kneaded eraser! I hope you find a good home. But now I need to go over to the art supply store.

The odd ways we human-like beings grow attached to inanimate utilitarian objects. :3 I used a kneaded eraser once, in high school art class...I was completely unaccustomed to having to periodically fold and refold an object that smelled so weird. Never touched it again after finishing art class. But my talents were ultimately not in drawing anyway.

I'm sure your dearly departed eraser will find a happy home and help the next starving underappreciated artist blossom into his (or her) artistic flower. ^^

I know that little gray lump of clay...

and sadly, I do not remember seeing it this year. Perchance, though, would it have rolled into one of the boxes?

I felt the same way about my Ames lettering guide. It was hiding behind a flaap in my bag. You may find it somewhere. Good luck with it, but if you cannot find it, may it find someone to care for it well.

The best part is, if it does turn up, then you'll have two kneaded erasers. Those things are the greatest invention ever to come out of an art supply store. :)

Have the best

Awwwwwwwww *pines for the lost eraser and hopes it turns up soon*

If not, I'm sure it's gone to a good home =)

It was probably some crazed fan boy (or girl!) who snatched it.

I can see the eBay listing...

"GENUINE GNEECH ERASER!!!!!11" asking price $50.
