Unhappy Cat Is Unhappy

Alas, Buddha is back at the kitty hospital, with another painful blockage. Fortunately, we were home yesterday, recognized the symptoms from last time, and got him treatment right away so it didn't do any other internal damage or become life-threatening. Unfortunately, he's going to be there all weekend and it's going to cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000. Owie. >.< Hooray for savings! I can't imagine what we'd have done in a scenario like this, say, eight years ago.

We now have to look at the option of surgery which would, to be perfectly blunt, snip off the bit that keeps getting plugged. That would be another $2,000+, which would suck, but it would hopefully prevent this from becoming our annual Christmas Surprise.

Still. Buddha's worth it. :)

The main risk is with the anesthesia. As with any short-nosed cat, they have to take special precautions to make sure he breathes properly. They haven't said anything about the FIV being a particular problem.

Poor kitty...

Well I'm glad he got medical attention in time. I know what you're talking about though Gneech.

I have an 18 year old Corgie, and she's nearly deaf and about 99% blind. But I've spent some bucks on her health (and with the hearing and vision - she's actually in very good health for a dog her age).

I bet Tiffany would do the same as you if she had a pet (non-prey, of course).

Ugh. I can relate. We just had Joey the ferret to the Vet's right after Christmas and spent $800 for his abdominal surgery. Been sqeezin' the weasel and squirting him some medications when he's done. Been interesting, but I'm glad he's feeling a bit better now. Been writing about it, too. --> http://koakako.livejournal.com/

I'm behind on my LJ, but hoping that things are going better for Buddha.
