I have noticed a trend in LJ posts, of people wondering why they're not getting comments on their posts! Well, it's actually very simple ... you need to go forth and find other people's journals that interest you, and comment on what they say! Then, as you pique their interest, they'll add you to their friends list, and begin to comment on what you say in return.

The same thing holds true for any endeavor where you want to get attention. When I first started promoting my comics, one of the most successful means I found was to just be an active participant in various forums and such, with links to my stuff prominent displayed in every comment I made. People are naturally curious, and when someone catches their interest, they want to find out who that person is, and what they're all about.

Indeed. And it works even better with the "Mopsy" link formatted correctly. ;)

I have to stand up for her, you know -- I cannot abide her being treated like a "red headed stepchild." {g}

(Editor's note -- can you get away with saying that to a redhead?)

You mean... people won't immediately bask in my wonderfulness, just because of who I am? I have to advertise myself?

*broad grin*

Very seriously, I'm just looking for friends, old and new to chat with, and a safe place to let off steam. I've been getting roughly the same number of comments that I've been sending... and I'm satisfied with that.

Although I must admit that I have been checking to see if I am getting any responses, I was only mildly curious when none were forthcoming. I had one post with more comments than I had ever expected anything I put down to recieve so I have done far, far better than I ever hoped. I am here simply to write and have a place where what I write might be seen.

So a comment, even a rare one, is a bright little jewel that my poor abused ego savors. Since I'm still new to the whole thing, I don't expect to have many people notice me. It will take me awhile to notice other people, but when I do, and I like it, I'm finding that I'm not as afraid to say so as I once thought.

I would try other people, but I'm kind of.. socially awkward. I ought to be over that by now, since this is not the real world and all.

Bingo. ;)

(Another way to help gain 'friends' is to add them yourself.)
