Instant Cheer: Just Add Artwork
Apr. 23rd, 2003 09:30 amThere's a strange correlation between my mood and how productive I'm being re: artwork. It's not exactly cause-and-effect ... just drawing pictures isn't enough to lift me out of a funk by itself ... but there is a definite link. When I'm up and happy, I want to draw ... and the more and better artwork I do, the better I feel.
Last week, for instance, I really couldn't get much artwork done. I was stressed by work etc., so there was no strip for Monday, which in turn just stressed me more. As much as I liked
kelloggs2066's guest strip, I much prefer running my own work. So I spent Monday sorta bummed about it.
Yesterday, every moment I could steal away from NIMH I spent doing sketches, not only of Wally but of the guest star who'll be appearing in SJ starting Friday, and enjoying it immensely. Last night I got today's and Friday's strip drawn, at the cost of being up 'til midnight. So now I'm physically tired but still happy because I got something done.
April has just flown by at the speed of light; I've barely gotten any of my "Too Much To Do List" done, because other stuff keeps jumping up and getting in my face -- or because I keep collapsing into bed at inopportune times (like, say, at night). I need to get Orange Alert moving, I owe
trpeal a guest strip, and that AC conbook artwork is due like now ... but I have Kung Fu tonight and Friday, and sometime this week I still need to get an external hard drive, a haircut, and a car.
And of course, there's the little matter of next week's strips, which I've promised to give a certain other cartoonist veto approval over, since they use his character extensively.
Bah! I'm too busy!
Unfortunately, the only things I can eliminate from my schedule, are the ones I really want to have. Ain't that always the way? Pfui. Life is too short to spend it going to work, doing laundry, eating, sleeping ... all that crap just gets in the way!
