Clié Today, Palm Tomorrow
Jun. 9th, 2004 08:01 pmI figured that with Sony abandoning us like so many spent cigarrette butts pulling out of the PDA market in the U.S., I'd better go ahead and get the wireless LAN card for my new Clié while I could.
Or at least, while I thought I could. 0.o
You know how you can love somebody, but hate their parents? That's how I feel about my Clié right now.
So Sony only lists "refurbished" WiFi cards on their site, and doesn't have any in stock. Amazon has one refurbished for sale ... eBay has a handful of "like new, but not returns accepted" ones. I finally went with Outpost.com (basically Fry's for those familiar with the Satanic Coupon), figuring that if it was a dud, I could probably get a return out of them.
Rassin' frassin' no support grumble mutter...
Anyway, my Clié should have a WiFi card on Friday; I'll have to figure out how to use it, but hopefully it'll be up and running by AnthroCon. This is the last piece I needed to make the Clié "complete," which is a good thing, because thanks to the joy of planned obsolescence, now it's finished.
Okay, I'm overstating it a bit ... it does what I want and I'm glad I have it. But I can pretty much forget about expansion, it seems.
