Question for My Players...

There were a couple of times in the session Saturday night when I figured that a given combat was a foregone conclusion and glossed over it -- I'm specifically thinking of "Jaer vs. the sentries in the watchtower" and the last two lizardfolk guarding the passage to the village below ("These guys can't really hurt you ... you dispatch them quickly...").

I got conflicting vibes about doing that ... some of you seemed to be just as happy to handwave it, while others seemed disappointed that you didn't get to actually play it out. So I'm curious: do you have a preference in that regard? And if so, what is it?
