Taking Comfort in the Inconsequential
May. 3rd, 2012 10:51 amAfter yesterday's repeated bouts of OMGWTH I'm back at my desk at work today, puttering around with work stuff and just sorta chilling out. Boring work stuff is boring, but it's achievable and doesn't take much brain, and as such it's a welcome diversion.
I would like to thank everyone for the kind words yesterday; of all of us immediately impacted by Sandy's loss, I've probably actually had it easiest... but it's definitely been rough on all of us.
It occurred to me last night, that I'd known Sandy for 29 years... having first met her when I went over to
hantamouse's place to play Pitfall II on the Atari back in 1983. Back then she was "a friend's mom" rather than an actual friend of mine, but as the years progressed and I became something reasonably close to an adult, that morphed into all of us being friends, and I was glad for that.
Some life-changing days are ahead. Here's hoping it all turns out for the best.
