• Fri, 12:34: My Twitter, basically like my life, is a constant balancing act between “I hate talking about politics” and “silence is complicity."
• Fri, 12:35: My feed has been a lot of politics lately because life has been a lot of politics lately, and I hate that.
• Fri, 12:35: I want to spend my time making goofy jokes, quoting song lyrics, being surreal, and generally trying to make people happy.
• Fri, 12:35: But there’s shit going down, and I can’t just shove my head in the sand and pretend it isn’t.
• Fri, 12:36: And you can’t just talk about it while it’s trendy and then forget later. Awful people don’t stop being awful when the spotlight turns off.
• Fri, 12:37: If anything, that’s when they ramp up their awfulness.
• Fri, 12:38: You need to keep heat on things like police brutality, invasive gov’t practices, racism, misogyny, etc., or they just feel empowered.
• Fri, 12:39: So my apologies if you’re sick of hearing about it; I’m sick of talking about it, and I wish it would go away. But it’s not, so I can’t.
• Fri, 12:40: I do try to throttle back a bit when I can. Because like I say, it’s not my natural mode. It’s just what sometimes I feel is necessary.
