Oh come on, I think you worry too much. SOMEONE has to be the antagonist, no? Isn't needing conflict part of storywriting 101?
Also, if you force in diversity, you risk tokenism. I've been in this job for 20 years and I've met, to use your example, exactly zero gay black accountants--and this is in Southern California. I forget precisely where Brigid's job is, if it's ever been explicitly stated, but there's nothing too unreasonable about one's peers being based on reasonable local demographics.
