"Americans have lost their vision of the future" About 1963 the springtime of growth, building, and great public works was over. A massive space exploration campaign couldn't be maintained through the summer of social discontent when every institution of society was under attack. During the autumn, (1984-2001) the season of the individual, the will to create a personal space flight capability was obvious and powerful, but technology was still just out of reach. Now its too late. winter has already begun. There will be 20-25 years of crisis mentality with no effort to spare on space flight. But winter doesn't last forever. Come spring our space flight achievements will be rapid and astounding... just don't expect it to begin before the year 2020.
