I dunno, either my boss's fight with his girlfriend last week had a deeper effect on him than he let on, or he has an eccentric management style. Today, he randomly said to me, "John, you are a handsome and talented man."
Uh, okay ... thanks? But I'm married, and you're not my type.
Not too long after that, a woman came through the drive-through, where Joan was helping her. The woman said to Joan, "The last time I came through here, I ordered a coffee with hazelnut. I got the coffee, but I don't think there was any hazelnut in it. But I came back, because the man at the drive-through [at which point she pointed through the window at me] was so very pleasant, calm, and collected. After waiting in the line, it was very nice to have him greet me at the window." To which Joan apparently said something to the effect of, "Yeah, John is great! We always have such a good time when he's here."
Frankly, it gave me the creeps. I was worried the whole rest of the night that somebody was going to jump out of a cupboard and beat me to a pulp with a baseball bat or something.
Hmm. I have issues.
...ANYWAY...
I still have to deal with the VEC. Tuesday is my next day off; I'll probably just take the whole day, go in to their offices, and stand in every line in the stoopid building until I get it all resolved. I wish I'd never started taking the bloody unemployment benefits ... everything about it was a giant hassle.
I've started drawing "The Starbucks Bearista" on the signs/boards around the store. Who knows, maybe I'll create a corporate mascot and start making money hand over fist ... although it's more likely they'll sue me for some sort of copyright infringement and take me to the cleaners. :) Until then, I'm having fun with it. I've had a few people visit SJ and NN after hearing me talk about them.
Our store is apparently looking for people again, so if you know anybody in northern Virginia who'd like to come work with your ever-lovin' blue-eyed cartoonist, let me know. The pay's not great, but you get a lot of coffee. :)
I got my tips for the past two weeks today ... much better than the last set! Since I had a pile of money that I wasn't expecting, I used it to buy a bunch of the store pastries, which I took over to the house of some friends that Laurie and I visit most Friday nights (You know who you are!).
Hmm ... I feel like there was more stuff I wanted to say, but I've forgotten what it was. Okay, whatever.
G'nite. :)
