So let me just toss in a final "Talk Like a Pirate Day" post!

Refuse that, and that's the last ye'll see of me but musket-balls!

Have you seen Geena Davis' "Cutthroat Island"? If not, you should. I think you'd like it.

I have seen it, and I didn't like it. In fact, I hated it ... the worst thing to happen to pirate movies since Roman Polanski. Ugh!

Thank the stars for Pirates of the Carribean!

Really? I thought you'd like it. So, aside from Pirates of the Carribean, which I've yet to see, what pirate movies do you consider worth watching?

The best is the TNT production of Treasure Island, with Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins and Charlton Heston as Long John Silver. It didn't get a lot of attention, but it was really, really good.

Other good ones include Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk (both with Errol Flynn); there was also a Sinbad movie with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. that was not really a pirate movie but was pretty close, but I can't remember the name. Hook deserves an honorable mention, too, although it's not properly a pirate movie either. Later in life, Errol Flynn did another pirate movie called Against All Flags which has its moments, but doesn't really hold up compared to his earlier stuff.
