This morning was a morning from hell at work. Last night I had trouble sleeping for various reasons, so by the time the alarm went off at oh-dark-thirty, I had a grand total of about three and a half or four hours of sleep. Then I went in to work and EVERYBODY IN THE UNIVERSE CAME TO STARBUCKS, TWICE!

By the end of the shift, we were all just sorta collapsed against the countertops, panting, and trying to account for all the missing or wounded. It was scary.

On top of all this, Matt spent all day, well, elsewhere. I waited 45 minutes over my scheduled time to leave for him to get back and he never did, but the store was finally dead at that point and Griselda who is an almost-shift-supervisor was there to cover the slack until Matt returned, so I said heck with it and left. I was wiped out.

When I got home, there was a message from Circle ... I am starting on May 31st. :) Giving Starbucks the customary two weeks will cost me $420 in lost revenue that I could have if I just walked and started at Circle tomorrow ... but it's worth it to me to be able to say I did it right. Plus, Matt has enough people leaving ... I don't want to add on to that. He's an okay guy, really, and gave me work when I was desperate to have some, so he deserves to be given due respect.

Like I said yesterday, this new position is still just a stepping stone ... but it's a higher one than the last stepping stone was, and that's what will get me back up to where I want to be: the cumulative effect of small but sustained progress.

And now, I nap. I won't be able to get Friday's SJ to [livejournal.com profile] katayamma in time for color (sorry, dude) -- and in fact, I might not be able to draw one at all before Sunday night at the earliest. My schedule for the next several days is set up in such a way as to have my free time made as completely useless as possible.

I also saw an incomplete schedule for next week ... it looks like my next complete day off might not be until next Thursday! Sheesh. But that will be the beginning of my last week at Starbucks! Woohoo. :)

No sweat... I know I whine when I don't get to color YOUR strip, but don't sweat it. Although it started out as a way to help take the load off of you, I've become rather terratorial over it for some reason and need to back off a bit.

I'm here when you need me for coloring.

*hugs*

Congratulations

Glad to hear that you're getting away from Starbucks, and into something that's more promising. That's very cool. :) Wasn't this one of your first steps in your long term plan you did a month or so back? If so, that's a good place to start.

Congratulations!

This made my day.
I'm so very happy that things are finally picking up again. And I don't mind the lack of SJ, it is great to see that things may be looking up.

Woo hoo!

Congratulations. It's long past due when things should finally start to turn around for you. Good for you, too, for doing the right thing. As Chipuni pointed out, good for you for doing the right thing.

Take it easy, catch your breath, and revel in the fact that you can finally see an end to your time at Starbucks. :)

Congratulations! And good that you are doing it the honorable way. Me, I may just walk if I get something better. But they've known for some time that I'm looking, and they also fired me on the spot during the whole fiasco over my MVR, without telling me that's what they'd done.
