My first tipoff that something was wrong was that somebody was knocking on the bedroom door. That's not something that's supposed to happen. [livejournal.com profile] lythandra, who happened to be standing up at the end of the bed, gave me a somewhat surprised look, then went over and opened it.

On the other side was a little blond-haired boy, something like seven or eight years old, very normal looking. When he spoke, he had the voice of Joshua Seth, who I always think of as "Souichi Sugano" from eX-Driver but who might also be familiar to you as the voice of "Young Knives" from Trigun.

Anyway, Laurie said to him, "What are you doing here?" or something along those lines to indicate she wasn't real happy about the way he just let himself into the house, and I agreed with her. What was the point of knocking on the bedroom door after you'd already bypassed the front lock?

He said, in an amiable tone, "Hi there. I figured I'd better come by and talk to you in case you've killed anybody you weren't supposed to."

I had no clue what that was supposed to mean, but I knew it wasn't anything good. I jumped up out of the bed and was at the door in two steps. With a vehemence that surprised me, I ordered, "Get out! Get out of here right now and don't come back!"

"But I was just--" he said.

"I don't want to hear it!" I snapped. "Go on, beat it!"

He rather poutily went down the stairs and out of sight. Thinking that he might decide to lurk downstairs, I said, "Go on. I want to hear that door close!" A moment later, I was gratified to hear the door shut with a quiet, almost embarrassed click. Via remote viewing, I could tell that he was indeed outside and heading across the parking lot to places unknown.

At that point I woke up, with my limbs in a state of extreme torpor, as if they'd been disconnected for the night and would take a few minutes to start up again ... wondering what that was all about.

Sounds like your subconscious is warning you about some edge you're close to crossing - and then proving it with the vehemence of your response. We don't tend to explode unless someone hits a nerve, and dream-emotions usually work the same way. In fact, they're often more "true" because in dreams we don't talk ourselves out of what we truly feel.

Well as far as I know, I haven't killed anyone I wasn't supposed to...

Dude!

Kid knocking on the bedroom door?

Didn't you see the recent Dawn of the Dead?

If it had been my dream, there would have been screaming and fires and zombies getting their heads blown off and a total breakdown of society and blood and horror and [livejournal.com profile] 2_gryphon standing there with a martini glass with which he gestures to the zombie hordes and says "You know what really pisses me off about that?"

If he's lucky, he saw Shaun of the Dead instead of that piece of tripe!

Hah, I can relate to this. I have been known to talk in my sleep. My spouse has had a few conversations with me (asleep) that she swears she's talking to someone else.

She may have been talking to someone else. I myself have had some rather odd 'in character' dreams before, where I was not me/myself in those dreams but I was one of my RPG or story characters. Saying and doing things totally out of character for myself that I would never contemplate doing but completely accurate to the behavior and personality of said character.

Which can get frightening at times, as some of my characters are psychotic and/or violetly disposed. Makes for some freaky-ass scary dreams at times. Gawd help anyone within hearing if do happen to talk in my sleep during one of those dreams.

I suspect she was. I am one of those who cannot remember his dreams unless they are extremely vivid. (One that sticks out from puberty involves lots of sex and the stairway to heaven.) I haven't become violent, apparently, but my fellow trainess in Army Basic training did report that I was a nightly amusement for the rest of the squad as I would sit up in bed and roundly curse out the drill sargeant for a good 2-3 minutes without repeating myself. Too bad I couldn't see it! :*)>

LOL. Just be glad no one video taped it and the DS didn't get ahold of it. ;)

Kids ARE evil. I think your reaction there was perfectly natural ;-)

I beg to differ! Kids can be a lot of fun (if you have an empty 55-gallon drum and a large body of water handy...)!

I'm not exactly sure what you're implying there, but since when are evil and fun mutually exclusive? ;-)

This implies that there are people you can kill because you're supposed to! I wonder who they are? ;-)

I was wondering where my nephew Egan went off to. Kinda quiet out here.

Don't worry about him. Whenever he gets "the creeps" he feels that the only way he can get rid of them is to give them to somebody else. :)

We're doing dream study in Psychology. I'll bring home the dream interpretations book and we'll see what it suggests.

Have the best
