It is an absolutely gorgeous day outside, just like it was yesterday. I just had a very pleasant walk around the building, and you couldn't ask for nicer weather.

Hold on a second ... this is Virginia in August. We don't GET nice weather!

What the heck is going on???

*frets, gets worried about impending apocalypse*

Anyway, on to some actual content, since I've been driving everybody nuts posting Oingo Boingo lyrics.

Apparently, "Tiffarella" is generating friction among the ZigZag fanboys. I don't know what exactly they were expecting, but apparently some aren't pleased with her portrayal. Given that she's playing a part in a spoof, all I can guess is that they are wanting either some sort of actual drama around her character (inappropriate for the storyline), or something spoogier (inappropriate for Suburban Jungle). Either way, I'm afraid they're in for disappointment.

However, it's an old truism that you can't please everybody, and the larger an audience you try to appeal to, the more people you won't please. (Go fig!) When Scott proposed the inclusion of ZigZag (and got Max BR's blessing), I laughed my head off and agreed right away, because I thought it was funny -- and that's the SJ trump card. I knew that it would be controversial in its own way, not because of who ZZ is, but because of Scott's distinctive (and non-Schwartzian) art style. If a ZZ fanboy gets his y-fronts in a twist about it, well, on the priority scale of my concerns, that's pretty darn low. Sorry. :)

Hmm ... I have this idea that I had some other stuff to write about, but I've forgotten about it now. Oh well! Guess I'll stop wasting electrons for a while, then. ;)

Tiffany isn't being herself in this spoof; she never wears a full-metal bikini.

Leona isn't being herself in this spoof; when was the last time she got along well with Tiff and sang bad Gilbert and Sullivan parodies with her?

So... why should people expect ZigZag to act like herself?

Bleah....the fanboys need a life, then. It's a HOBBY, not a wet dream factory.

Besides, they're completely and utterly blind if they can't see the elements of ZigZag's character in the portrayal. It's there, trust me.

Good job, Gneech. Screw the fanboys ---er, on second thought, don't. They'd enjoy it too much.

Another Virginian reporting in. Also reported: walls bleeding, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

"Take Five" is Dave Brubeck.

Speaking of Tiffarella, #10 is colored and awaiting your approval. No doubt it needs work, I'm just too burned to relize what I missed...

NOTE: I'm not burned from coloring, I spent a LOT of time out in the heat today and we polar bears just ain't designed for that crap.

Hamadryad, hmm? Most interesting, and a delightful name.

As in "daughter of Ira", or a source closer to the mythological original?

Heh. Both, actually...originally Ira's daughter, but the tree nymph had a hand as well. Disturbingly enough, this handle is old enough to drive.

And your more formal name amuses me. Middle name "Tralala", perhaps? ;)

The Hamadarling was a delightful creation -- although I am partial toward Minerva, myself...

Not to mention...
"Stand with me on Man's old planet
Gazing north when sky has darkened
Follow down the Dipper's handle
Half again and veering westward..."

Thus starts what remains my favorite single piece of writing, The Tale of the Adopted Daughter, from (as you know, of course) "Time Enough For Love" by Robert Heinlein. It is one of the few pieces of work that I can say literally changed my life.

"Only sin is lack of trying..."

We are posting in the forum of another author who has had such an effect on me, as he knows.

I chose "Hamadryad" because she was stunningly beautiful and didn't know it. I was 15, and I definitely wasn't aware of being stunningly beautiful, so I chose the handle in an uncharacteristic fit of optimism.

Was it Time Enough for Love that changed your life, or specifically The Tale of the Adopted Daughter?

I chuckled once again at your explanation. I have the expectation from all of this that you are, in fact, female -- although I am beyond being surprised in such matters. ;)

The Tale of the Adopted Daughter was very powerfully emotionally for me, and has affected in positive ways my views (and activity) in romance. The rest of the book had other effects on me, also positive, but generally more pragmatic. I remain rather an idealist by LL's standards, but I accept this and do what I can.

Pleased to meet you!
