It's been a long time since I did one of these, and really I should know better than to let them slide. Three Things posts are self-maintenance, like brushing my teeth or cleaning up my work area, stuff that I
know will make me feel better if I actually do them, but for some reason just start to fall away when I'm not paying attention.
In the case of Three Things specifically, in the stress I've been under lately, I have had a tendency to wake up already anxious, and that in turn just makes the day that much more stressful, a vicious cycle. And the reason I'm waking up anxious, is because I'm going to bed anxious.
Enter the Three Things post. By thinking of Three Good Things That Happened Today, and Three Goals For Tomorrow respectively, I set
those things as the dominant thoughts in my mind before bed. Three Good Things is to establish gratitude, like saying your prayers or counting your blessings. Three Goals is to set your subconscious to start chewing on those things, so you hit the ground already running in the morning. It's ridiculously simple and straightforward, and amazingly effective if you keep at it consistently. So that's what I intend to do.
