I just realized that both of this week's strips have typos in them.

GRRR!

Man, I wish Photoshop had a spellchecker. ¬.¬

Note to myself: fix those tonight.

I've noticed over the past five or six years, more typos, more misspellings, more misplaced homophones, and more wandering apostrophes creeping into everything I write, and I can't figure out why. I know what's supposed to go there, and my brain thinks that's what it's putting -- then a week later I go back and look and it's like "doode i rote htis." It's like my ability to pay attention to anything I happen to be doing has fallen by the wayside. I need to find some way to address this!

I type out all my dialoge in Word before writing it out in my comic. If I wasn't hand drawing it I'd just copy the text into photoshop from there.

Just a thought....

Yeah, either type out the comic's dialouge in another program first to doublecheck, or get a proof reader. Not that the proof reader is the most reliable.

Get [livejournal.com profile] lythandra or someone to do a quick idiot check. It's so easy to miss things in your own work you'd spot a mile off in someone else's.

Who needs a spell checker when you have readers? :)

Though actually... Two months ago I had a typo that nobody in my reader base thought to draw to my attention, but one the editor of the Oakland paper that carries the strip emailed me about it. So maybe we all need professional editors-in-chief to look over our shoulder.

Pacific North West

(as opposed to that fake Northwest around Chicago...)

Pacific North-West, where the virgin forest undergrowth is so thick you can't see someone a yard away, and most of the trees are more than twenty feet thick.

See, that's why you need to be like me, and have consistently made typos from the outset. Then it doesn't feel so out of place ^.^

Hm, maybe that isn't the solution you were looking for XD

Use your readers. :)

For example, I'm [livejournal.com profile] bguigar's semi-unofficial spellchecker; when typos creep into his strips, he hears about it from me. Heh.

cheers,
Phil

Pay no mind to it at all. It's just the natural aging process where your neurons slowly disconnect one after another. Take it from someone who is well into the process; after a while you won't notice and soon after you won't care.

Hehe. Hi, Ronny. Can I join you?

Well, I suppose I could start actually reading the strip when I color it rather than just glancing at it. :P

As has already been suggested, put your text in a word processor and then cut & paste it into the strip. Then we'll both be Cut & Paste comic strip guys. ;)
