Date: 2006-07-25 02:02 pm (UTC)...and then I have to spend tomorrow (another predicted 97 degree day) working in the MensWear department of a British department store called Marks and Spencer (the UK equivalent of Macy's or JC Penney etc), Menswear is on the top floor of this store, which hasnt had a re-fit, so its still 70s and old fashioned, from the dark carpets to the hideous lack of proper air conditioning. As well as the fact that I have to be on my feet for 8 hours with only a half hour break (yesterday was 5 hours, no break), in an all black long-sleeved shirt as part of the uniform. Fun.
The UK lacks good air con in most places as we dont generally have a history of needing them, so they were just in maybe the occasional hotel, restaurant etc, but certainly not in normal homes and shops etc, but with the weather how its been the past 5 or so years, we need better aircon... everywhere!!
Put the aircon outside, mess with nature! Bwahahah!
Sorry...
...
...heat getting to the brain. Ah well, maybe they'll put me in the food hall tomorrow... they have good air con.

Date: 2006-07-25 02:46 pm (UTC)What's a heat wave in one place is a normal day for a lot of other places. Mind you, 115 is a bit much for here in the Deep South, but temps up to 105 wouldn't particularly surprise me. It IS late July, about to be August, after all.

Date: 2006-07-25 03:08 pm (UTC)*laughs* Cairo, or just about anyplace else in the Middle East! ;-) I just had to give Gneech a hard time -- so many people here are complaining about temperatures in the 90s and here in Phoenix, we've had temperatures over 100 consistently over the last month.
Thankfully, it's (mostly) a dry heat.
