Pre-Con Bounce
Aug. 14th, 2006 10:07 amVery often after a convention I get what I call "Post-Con Bounce," which is a kind of hyper-productivity on my comics and writing, particularly my comics, coupled with a kind of "WHEEE!" enthusiasm about the whole thing. Unfortunately, I didn't get that after AC this year, and I very much didn't get it after Comic-Con. If anything, CC gave me a kind of Post-Con Thud.
Today, however, I was thinking about the upcoming Dragon*Con, and to my pleasant surprise found myself bouncing about it. Some of that is because NeverNever is going so well, and this is going to be a NN-heavy con (relaunch flyers, new shirt, etc.); but I'm also very keen on getting the ball rolling with Suburban Jungle again. I finished another Cake Portfolio piece over the weekend and expect to get another one done tonight or tomorrow, which means I might actually be able to work ahead a little for a change! That always improves not only the quality of my work, but my attitude towards it generally.
The fact is not lost on me that the past week has been unseasonably cool for August. In short, it's been feeling like spring or autumn out there, and by a strange coincidence I've had more energy and joie de vivre. Hmmmmmmm. Funny how that works.
Well, time to strike while the iron is hot, says I. I'm going to be as productive as I can while I've got the energy, so that when summer goes "Oh, wait, I'm supposed to be crap, aren't I? What the hell am I doing being nice?" I'll already have some momentum going. A productive Gneech is a happy Gneech!

PS: Once summer returns, my only hope will be to get eaten first!

Date: 2006-08-15 12:23 am (UTC)Hooray for cake! (Especially if it's big or in spots.) I am wondering what you're planning to do for the front and back covers of the portfolio.
Would exercising help when the weather starts turning against you?
