There's a Doctor Who ringtone out there. It could run on my phone.

But it's only for sale to customers in the UK.

Because...?

Stoopid arbitrariness. Join the friggin' global economy already!

PS: Well, now I found one for sale in the US, but it's not compatible with my phone. *headdesk*

what kind of phone do you have, gneech? I've just made and uploaded my own to my old phone, including the Doctor Who theme.

Is it possible to share ringtones? The OS on this phone is not the -most- opaque one I've ever come across, but it does its best to be unhelpful whenever possible.

Dunno. I might be able to send you one... I'll have to look into it at my end tonight. =)

Well, I looked into it. Found a free MP3 file of it...Can probably download it to your phone, but only if you have a USB/data cable for the phone. It ends up I can't text message /sms it to you.

I have a Kyocera KX2, which apparently can play polyphonics but not MP3's.

I had the original Delia Derbyshire Doctor Who theme (mp3) as the primary ringtone on my phone.

I quit using it, because I never realized it was the phone ringing until it was too late. Now my phone plays Bananaphone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bananaphone).

I've got a MIDI version of the newer theme music kicking about on my handset (downloaded for free from the web ages ago)

So...you're a Dr Who fan then, are you? ^.^
There's a remarkable array of Dr Who merchandising in the shops and candy stores in the lead-in to Christmas - Dalek shaped tins with marshmallow, the works!

I'd just be happy if my cell phone were made to sound like an old rotary dial phone with a bell chime inside it. Rrrring!

And when I want it to be silent, I want it to f***ing shut up and be silent, and not send me all those incendiary tones telling me that it's being silent.

Have teh best

Someone I work with has a ringtone like you describe.

The sad part is that the entertainment industry doesn't want a global economy. Keeping the world divided into several markets lets them maximize profits with things like the ringtone nonsense you encountered.
