When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you just remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

I LOVE that movie! One of my favorite tropes from it is all the hells the Chinese have.

(I'm totally making up which hell is mentioned below, because I can't remember the real one)
Jack and Wang come up to a door in Lo Pan's headquarters with Chinese writing on it.
Jack: "What does this say?"
Wang: "(Chinese phrase), The Hell of Ann Coulter Podcasts."
Jack: "You're KIDDING."
Wang: (suddenly laughs) "Yeah, I am - it says 'Keep out.'"

Edited to add: It was "The Hell of Boiling Oil." But I like mine better.

I remember...

Hell of Boiling Oil
Hell of Being Cut to Pieces
Hell of the Upside-Down Swimmers
Hell Where People are Skinned Alive
What the hell is Gracie Law doing here?

...but there are probably more!

I'm pretty sure that's "Hell of the Upside-Down Sinners," but I'll grant you the audio isn't exactly crystal clear in that scene.

My brain is telling me "There's also a 'Hell of a Thousand... somethings,' but if you want to know what the 'somethings' are, you'll have to bribe me with caffeine."

And I don't negotiate with terrorists.

I've vacillated many times between "sinners" and "swimmers," without coming to a firm conclusion. I suppose if I really wanted to know, I could always turn on the subtitles...

Sinners.

I've watched it with the subtitles.

I think I remember Hell of the Horny Dragon in there too.

Sadly the skit "Big Trouble in Little FurCon" had to be scrapped due to the main guy getting extremely workbusy up until FC. THo I don't know if you saw the fox (FJ McCloud) walking around as Jack Burton?

No, I didn't, I wish I had! I'd have bugged him about where he found the shirt. :)

What does that mean? I don't even know what the hell that means!

I think Jack Burton and Korben Dallas would get along all right.

Is it Korben or Corbin (as in "French for crow")?

Either way, I think Jack Burton would be in danger of getting a boot to the head sooner or later. ;)

Probably so. It's Korben according to imdb.com.

I wanna John Carpenter Boxed Set.

If a hack like Kubrick can get a boxed set, why is it taking so long for Carpenter?

But what would be in such a classic boxed set?

I would definitely love to have the set with The Fog, Halloween, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, and Prince of Darkness
