Wow ... it didn't suck! :D

No Lord of the Rings by any stretch ... but easily as good as a good Xena episode, which for a movie based on D&D should be plenty.

Blows the theatrical one away, that's for sure.

The theatrical version blew goats. I mean, it was AWFUL. Jeremy Irons being over the top, Thora Birch doing her best Amidala impression... then again, you know all the other reasons it sucked.

The only way that movie could have been saved was if at the end we had seen the PC sitting around the gaming table, with Wayans Brother bitching about dying.

I was unaware that there was even another movie.

Yup, direct to DVD release, which is a shame 'cause it's much better ... and actually has actual D&D lore built into it.

Obviously you've never watched MEGASNAKE then. I watched through 120 minutes of that movie that was supposed to 'Star' Feedback from Who Wants To Be A Superhero? and what I got was 2 minutes of Feedback and 118 minutes that I want back of my life.

I know the Sci Fi Channel forums were in something of a riot over how bad that movie was and how little screen time Feedback got.

My point was that their movies usually are abortions of film making, but that this specific film was moderately enjoyable.

I heard about the Megasnake movie and Feedback's "starring" role. I was going to watch it when then I thought "If this movie was starring Feedback... wouldn't they call it 'Feedback'?"

I suppose even SciFi can luck out once in a blue moon, that is highlighted in front by 3 red suns, and the planets aligned in such a way to bring ruin upon the heretics who live in the desert places and to allow the SciFi producers to do something halfway decent. But I wouldn't hold my breath. ;)

And yes, Feedback got totally jipped. I feel so bad for Feedback, even if he is a superhero. At least his comic book was totally awesome. :)

And this only applies to the movies. The TV shows are pretty good.

I never checked out the comic cause I didn't know when it was released and we don't have any good comic stores around here. I did hear it was good though.

Of course. TV shows on Sci Fi are a much better thing than their movies.

The comic was at comic book shops, as well as Books-A-Million, and probably other book related stores. I know my BAM had the comic for quite a while.

Eh, they've sacked SG-1, Atlantis keeps on killing off my favorite characters (first Ford, then Beckett), try and pull a Worf by bringing in Carter. And don't get me started on BSG, I've been waiting 29 yarn for a new episode.

Weren't there several Dungeons and Dragons movies with the same cast?

We took to calling the main guy "DammitAll". And yeah, it was a pretty decent movie for what it was worth. Anyone with high expectations would be disappointed, but if you were just there for the ride, you're right... it didn't suck.

I only know of the two. The sequel is set 100 years after the theatrical release and the only recurring character is the heavy (the bald guy with black lipstick), who came back in Wrath of the Dragon God as the main villain.

Which means ... Snails is dead! Snails is dead! *dances around*

I do have a few little nitpicks with Wrath of the Dragon God:

1. The Hero's Wife (I forget her name), speaking of Divine Magic: "No one in Izmir can do it." If this is so, I'd like to know where the cleric's Flamestrike came from...

2. I'd also like to know why he had to paint parts of his head blue. :P

3. Isn't that climate a little warm for a White Dragon? And since when do Black Dragons breathe fire? (I know, I know. Falazure was a god, and thus entitled to vomit whatever form of death He sees fit. It still bugs me.)

4. For a lich, Klaxx certainly had a lot of meat on his bones. Chalk it up to a low budget.

5. The prop for the vorpal sword the Hero finds looks cheap.

Still, I agree, it was infinitely better than the asstastic theatrical release. ^,^

Well if you're gonna go for that level of detail, you might was well point out that the Ghost Tower of Inverness and the Shrine of the Kuo-Toa are in Greyhawk, not (Oy Vey) Ishmir. ;)

I liked that they had a gem of true seeing, tho. That's one of those things you actually have to play the game to know about. :)

But yes, I noticed the bit about divine magic. "You've got a cleric right there!"

Rushing a White Dragon of at least Juvenile, if not Young Adult age, head-on, is not the most tactically sound action anyone's ever undertaken.

I know Charles loved it. Especially compared to the theatrical relase. We rented the DVD, so the special features were interesting, too. I have since bought it and, as with most movies we buy, have not seen it since. I thought it was good, though.
