Fortress of Solitude

Before Superman was the international star he is today, there was a hero of the adventure pulps by the name of Doc Savage, who had a base in the Antarctic (IIRC), called the Fortress of Solitude.

There are times, when I envy him.

I love the various people in my life, or at least most of them, but sometimes, I just want the rest of the world to GO AWAY!

I like to go where my consciousness takes me ... do things on my own schedule ... plan my day as I see fit. Having to spend all of my time working around somebody _else's_ schedule and ideas is an effort at best, and a major strain after a few days.
