Stop Me If You've Heard This One...
Apr. 8th, 2003 06:18 pmSo my parents drop in on me at work today because they are in the vicinity and want to get rid of this library stool they're carting around in their van. Out in the parking lot...
FATHER: Well, you ARE looking fitter!
MOTHER: Yes, look quite different! *pats my stomach* But looks can be deceiving, once you actually get through the shirt and feel the padding still there!
FATHER: Still got a ways to go, eh?
ME (a bit annoyed): Yes, well, I'm way down from my highest, which was 313 ... I'm somewhere around 260 now, and still--
MOTHER: Well, I'd say you still have sixty pounds to go!
Bah. And they wonder why I never want to talk to them. :P

Bulb went *pfft!* on the scanner this evening. It's a 12" 8-watt flourescent "day lamp," probably the sort of thing you see in greenhouses and desk lamps all the time, but Home Depot didn't have any, and Laurie's searches of other sources haven't been successful so far.
However, I am not going to get bothered by something like that. If we can put up with transmissions going *pfft* and insane clients at work and parental abuse, we can certainly deal with a dead scanner. I may just toddle on over to Micro Center and buy a whole new one on general principle!
Let's face it, on the scale of life's tragedies, this barely even bats an eyelash.
