"And I sent him what I thought was a quite polite but firmly-worded missive to the effect that his review of Retrograde Maneuvers was the bunk."
"Oh yes?" said Brigid, stifling a yawn. "And...?"
"Well, he wrote back and told me that I was being neurotic. Then he started talking about Steve Martin."
Brigid chuckled. "I can see it," she said.

Speaking of Steve Martin
May. 16th, 2005 01:13 pmWell, I succumbed.
Specifically, I succumbed to my literary urges and got
lythandra to take me over to Borders on our lunch break today. There, I picked up The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin, Four to Go by Rex Stout, an audio edition of Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit by P.G. Wodehouse, and (because I was really weak) two miniatures booster packs.
We also recently picked up Gil's All-Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez. That gives us three new books and a new audiobook for the California trip. If that's not enough, we'll be going to Powell's while we're in Portland, I'm sure they'll have something worthwhile.
