The problem with being too in love with your own project, is you linger over things. This would have been a great movie at an hour and forty-five minutes.
Three hours and ten minutes? I'm sorry, you need to trim the fat. King Kong has a very compact storyline. (What's interesting, is that the original has the exact same problem -- so in that regard, it was a very accurate remake.)
I could also have done without ( SPOILER ) That's the kind of thing people are referring to when they talk about "gratuitous."
Aside from that, it was pretty good.
