Spent most of the day prepping for tonight's Star Wars RPG session, which was a d20 conversion of the old WEG module Scavenger Hunt. Since [livejournal.com profile] hantamouse's character is a Squib, and Scavenger Hunt is pretty much where the Squibs originated in the EU (on top of which it's a fairly lighthearted adventure intended for a low-level party), it seemed like a good way to revive the SW game. So far they've managed to hold their own quite well ... although being PCs they managed to take the scenario off in a direction the adventure writers never foresaw (particularly sending half the party into the Death Star fragment while the other half kept flying the shuttle around Paradise system) -- thus negating the prewritten script's assumption that L9-G8 would be chased all over the system by the pirate pinnace.

Without wanting to give away spoilers, the scene for which L9-G8 was specifically included in the adventure, got negated almost immediately -- this group of PCs is remarkably accomodating when told "Disarm and surrender!" I suspect that's because I've gone to great lengths to impress upon them that SWRPG d20 is considerably deadlier than D&D, particularly at 1st level. So when confronted with opposing force, they surrender. Of course, with tonight's session, they've all become 2nd level except for [livejournal.com profile] pholph's Jedi Guardian, since [livejournal.com profile] pholph was away and therefore his character was off on some other mission. Given that [livejournal.com profile] pholph is moving away in the not-too-distant future, I suspect that Will Dewry won't be making another appearance in the game as a PC.

Hmm ... what devious things could I do to him as an NPC? ;) Alas, that means going back to the search for one more player.

We ended the session with [livejournal.com profile] lythandra and [livejournal.com profile] jamesbarrett toting the "Holy of Holies" (or black hole of Holies as the case may be) around on the Death Star fragment and working on a decoy version to send either the pirates, the Ugors, or the Squibs after, while [livejournal.com profile] hantamouse and the NPC Squib Spilfer attempt to blast their way away from the pirate ship, having chased Teehl and her pair of goons off with the help of B-0-B. Paradise system is in uproar because the Holy of Holies has been turned off and all the junk is flying in all sorts of weird directions -- as are the Ugor battlewagons. Should be fun to see what happens next!

Oh yeah, the workout report! )
