So I read that digital scale manufacturers received complaints from nitwits who didn't understand that weight could fluctuate on a daily (even hourly) basis, who were weighing themselves every day and getting annoyed that they'd be 250 lbs one day then 251 lbs the next then 248 lbs the day after that. And, capitalism being what it is, the scale manufacturers didn't tell the people "suck it up, that's your actual weight," but instead programmed their scales to "smooth out to an average," trying to make whatever your weight is THIS time, match or at least be closer to your weight LAST time.

I have discovered, much to my annoyance, that my own scale does this. :P

This morning, when I stepped on it, it said my weight was 292.4. I stared at this in annoyance, given that's exactly what it said last week, and tried an experiment. I reset the scale, only this time I only put one foot on the scale and pressed down, to get a reading around 125. One that reset, I took my weight again, and got a result of 291.3. I took it one more time and got the same result.

So what's my actual weight? Who freakin' knows? Evidently not the scale. :P

Can I have a "Just the facts, ma'am" setting, please?
