Sitting in the lobby of the Hyatt Rosemont, people watching and in-between group hangouts, lurking with Buck Turner. The con is slowly trickling in, but so far I’ve only seen a few people I know. Inkblitz is here of course, I’m rooming with him; I’ve also seen Nimbus, Tango, and Kuddlepup. I’ve met some new friends-of-friends, which is always nice, but there’s no denying that the ratio of folks I know to folks I don’t know has drastically shifted.
As for the title of this post, my flight was very smooth until we were coming in for a landing, at which point the plane began to yaw quite a bit, probably from a crosswind. As we got over the runway, I think the pilot was like “My choice is put it down hard and fast, or circle back around,” and he chose hard and fast. We hit the landing strip with a solid WHOMP, that rattled teeth and elicited many a comment. But to the pilot’s credit, it was a three point WHOMP. >.>
On the way out, I quipped to him, “Hope you didn’t leave a divot!” He laughed and said, “Hey, you know?” I think he was more than a little embarrassed, but happy to have landed safely.
Let’s see what the rest of the con is like!
