LJ has been very iffy the past few weeks; I'm guessing it's the usual political junk in another hemisphere. (Rassin' frassin' selling the network...) I have lately been doing a lot of my bloggy activities on Google+ as a backup plan. It's not as good as a working, populated LiveJournal would be, but it's better than a blank screen.

Anyway! That's not what this post is about. This post is about gaming. First of all, I finished the first DLC campaign for Borderlands 2: "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate Booty." How was it? Eh, I'd give it 6.5 out of 10. It had some really good bits (notably the CENSORBOT missions), but it also felt a little formulaic and predictable. Uninspired, I guess I'd say, compared to the usual wacky mayhem of BL. Next up is "Mister Torgue's Campaign of Carnage", which looks like it has more fun to it, if less brain. We'll see!

Alas, there's been no tabletop gaming this month-- family crises and the holidays have seen to that. I'm very much itching to get to Coventry while the inspiration is still hot. On the other hand, the lack of actual game sessions has allowed me to do all kinds of prep for it, both in terms of the starting scenario, and the longer campaign, including rules for runner racing, an element I'm hoping to make a significant part of the game, a la Autoduel. To that last end, I picked up a copy of Road Rage: Life In the Fast Lane, a racing supplement for the "Interface Zero" Savage Worlds setting. It's not exactly what I want in a racing system, but it does have a lot of useful ideas. Their "races as expanded chases" model is similar to what I'm working on myself, although I think it could be streamlined a bit. If nothing else, it could stand to have a few more crazy loops added. ;)

Here's hoping for some OTT awesomeness in January!

The last time LJ was being wonky, I set up a Dreamwidth account that imported my LJ post and copies what I post there to over here. It gave me a modicum of relief that if this place burned to the ground that I wouldn't lose everything.

Although most of my brain fart thoughts go on Twitter.

While I may be working saturday the 29th, it turns out I work lunch, leaving me free for mayhem that evening. :) I will get out of there in plenty of time to find my way over to your place for whatever mayhem we can get ourselves involved in.
