I loves my iDevices, but great googily-moogily, does iTunes suck. I mean, you could pick the convoluted and frustrating interface, the wonky file handling, any number of things. But what gets me the most about iTunes is the sheer gall of this error message:

"Could not sync iPad because the sync failed to start."

...so, you're saying you couldn't do it because you didn't do it? Is that really what you're saying, iTunes?

*boot to the head*

PS: I had a YouTube link to the Frantics' song "Boot to the Head" here, but I removed it. There's something that's always bugged me about that song, specifically the line, "People voting Republican: give them a boot to the head." Besides being an amateurish sort of middle-school joke, to immediately follow it up with a verse decrying "politicians who can't think" denotes cognitive dissonance. You've just blanket-condemned half of the electorate as a body, and then you're being sanctimonious about not thinking? Weaksauce.

Yes, I know that many Republicans say tons of stuff about "liberals" (never Democrats, always "liberals") that's just as bad if not worse. But y'know, if it's bad when "they" do it, it's bad when "we" do it too.

PPS: I say "they" and "we" for illustrative purposes. I don't identify with either party really.

Oh, there's a worse aspect to that message. It's explicitly advocating replacing liberal democracy with the violent suppression of the other party.

And labeling violent behavior as only a conservative trait is also something liberals frequently do without any real basis of truth behind it thus proving Gneech's point. Everyone is capable of violence regardless of their political beliefs.

Aren't the Frantics Canadian?

I identified as a Republican for a long time, and I still agree with their positions on some issues (at least, the positions they profess to have). As a young, Internet-connected video gamer, I basically had to just get used to the idea that pretty much everyone like me, everyone who marketed to people like me, and people who created content for people like me, automatically assumed it as fact that my political beliefs were not only wrong, but ridiculous, and potentially evil or dangerous.

After a while, it didn't even elicit an eye-roll from me.

The moment an mp3 player app turn into 'media library manager' I usually ditch it. Back in the days of MacOS 9, there was a very nice mp3 player called SoundJam MP, then Apple bought it out and bent it into iTunes.

I still use WinAMP5 on Windows, and XMMS on Linux.

I've used a 'media library manager' called MediaMonkey for... over a decade now (wow, really?). I wholeheartedly recommend it. I have the paid version - paid for it a decade ago, still get updates now - but there is a free version.

Things like that are why I don't buy Apple. The hardware is all right, but their software usually makes me want to put an axe through it.
