Dis-Missed

the_gneechHave you ever thought about the term "dismissed?" I mean, if you take the word apart, it becomes "dis-missed," literally, that if you leave, you won't be missed.
To be dismissed is to be irrelevant ... someone who dismisses you has no malice toward you necessarily; in fact, they can hold you in good regard ... but you just don't matter to them.
Strange feeling, to be dismissed. Particularly when you had no real intention of ever having any great meaning to the person who has dismissed you -- yet, for some reason, it sticks in your craw that you don't.
Bleah.
I've been meaning to get drunk for New Year's anyhow.
