I know, I know, the whole MTV thing is an outrage, etc.

Somehow, I just can't bring myself to be upset. I was a Trek-obsessed geek when _nobody_ else in my world cared about Trek; I was playing D&D when the national media somewhat inexplicably decided it was a front for Satanism.

The fact of the matter is, there's a suitably large portion of the country that wants to be scandalized by the presence of "freaks" among them, and thus there will always be other people willing to make a fast buck by finding those freaks where ever they look for them.

This too shall pass.

The title amuses me, and it is a far more mature stance than I found myself taking. Still, the obvious choosing by the producers of a young man barely 18 who is seeking out furry sex partners was deliberate. Especially the part where his mother with a heavy accent "didn't understand" her furry son. No worse than was done about the Trek community, though, I suppose. The cross-dressing bard isn't the most shining example of Trek fandom.

On the bright side, maybe other people will look at this as "gee, there's always extremists in any crowd, and by the way, did you see that cool fursuit?"

Such is the hazard of having an idiot manager who can't make up her mind when she wants to schedual me. I have to call in sick (or snowed in, as was today's case) when I want to watch something on TV.
