Before the first film was released I heard- third-hand?- of a discussion/debate/...- well, it amounted to this. Some fans wondered whether those chapters of Return of the King would be in the movie or not (not sufficiently epic, etc. ...) No idea (for one thing, my memory for this sort of thing is as bad as I like to joke my memory is in general) how much was speculation, etc.,
though the point someone made during that discussion about the importance of those chapters - and of the way they were resolved - I could only agree with as I reread them, and it really is a pity to find out they've been removed. (I'm that behind on my moviewatching...)

That would be better for Dragon*Con than the movie premiere, actually. More people would get it. ;)
