I missed Kung Fu on Wednesday, so I figured I'd just go today instead, no big deal.

Or so I thought, until I woke up at 10:45 -- and class starts at 11:30! 0.o

I threw a bowl of cereal down my throat, tossed on my uniform, and bolted to class, just making it in time for meditation ... and it went downhill from there. -.-

I don't know if it was the 250% humidity, the lack of a decent breakfast, the lingering effects of my cold, or all of the above, but I could not keep up; several times I had to just plain stop, head to the corner, and sit, gasping for air and keeping myself conscious by sheer willpower.

It's bad enough that under normal conditions I go from "at rest" to "winded" without stopping at "warmed up" in between; today I went from "at rest" to "D.O.A." after just doing the start-up stretches.

I gave Sihing a lot of apologetic stammering; he was very cool about the whole thing, tho.

During the few moments I was able to function, I reviewed the entire white belt curriculum; my form and moves I've got pretty solid. My problem is conditioning, conditioning, conditioning ... but the harder I work on this, it seems the more resolutely my body fights against it.

Well dammit body, I don't care if you do want to be an immobile pile of blubber, I'm getting into shape and you can't stop me! You can either learn to enjoy it, or we can just keep torturing each other for the rest of our life. Your choice.

Ouchies....hope you're feeling better now.

I'm having a similar argument with my body; it turns out that while _I_ enjoy significantly the workout mode of DDR, my joints and muscles have teamed up with my lungs to protest.

Down with unruly bodies, mind over matter....

Shower, lunch, a generous dose of Advil, and a trip to Starbucks restored me to the land of the living, but it was a tough job!

My back still wants to have a few words with me. 0.o

Sometimes a person is better off skipping a meal before a workout. Digestion is hard work and takes 33% of the available blood circulation.

plus, cereal=yuck..

but that's just a personal opinion...(grin)...

if you were in a nicer climate, I'd say a brisk 9-10 pm walk to start the endurance thing (something I was able to do even in PA weather was long walks at about a 3 MPH clip)

keep up the good work even when it seems futile. The pictures from FC and AC prove that you're making great progress!

Ack! That doesn't sound nice at all. Maybe you should keep a can or two of the instant breakfast or food supplements to use in a similar case in the future. As has been said a meal followed by exercise is not really a good idea. Hope you can get the conditioning thing worked out. Believe me I know how hard it is. AC did give me proof that mine was working. 12 flights of stairs and I was still able to carry on a conversation at the top.
Yippee!

I've never been able to force my body to do what I say.

Me: Okay, body, it's time for fencing!
Body: That's what you think.
Me: What? C'mon, let's go!
Body: Do it and I'll make you regret it.
Me: Are you threatening- AAAAAAAAHHH!!! Ow! Ow! Ow!
Body: Yes I am. With a dislocated knee. No fencing for you.
