Cable Fable

My cable provider, Cox, had a partnership with Road Runner to provide my high-speed internet access and all was, if not perfect, at least functional. Then they decided they wanted to dump Road Runner, presumably to keep more of the profit for themselves. They forced everyone to change their e-mail addresses to a Cox domain and switched over their cable access to their own servers.

Now at any given time, there's about a 20% chance that my cable is up. It's particularly annoying when I'm trying to do things like, say, post to my LJ. I check that the cable is up, type my post and try to submit it, and BANG, it went down when I was typing and I didn't double-check it.

I'm not completely bereft of access ... I still have what amounts to a lifetime Prodigy dialup account as a leftover perk from LifeMinders, so I can fall back on that (as I'm doing right now). I can't do much in the way of watching animations or downloading large files, but I can at least surf.

From the "I'm Too Sketchy for My Shirt" Department...

I think SJ is going to be sketches again this week, with plot to start up again next week. I'm still getting settled in at Circle, and sketches are easy to do "on the fly," so to speak. I'm going to draw strips at night like I would normally, so I can get them to [livejournal.com profile] katayamma and get them colored in advance, but they're going to be for next week, instead of the next day.

With my writing and my cartooning both, I've found it more difficult for the past year or two to get into that "living in another world" mindset that used to come so naturally to me. Some of it is probably because the real world has been so very insistent on demanding my attention all the time -- being an adult sucks -- but I think there are other things going on as well. I'm not sure what they are, exactly, but I'm looking into the problem. Writing, cartooning, etc., are just about the only things that I'm good at that I actually enjoy doing, and I'm not about to let the onset of adulthood get in the way of those.

That's all for now. :) Catcha later!

Haha! So you're saying that Cicero's comment about people not learning history will keep them forever children is a good thing? :D

You go, Gneech!

Did you get my email?

*snickers*

I pondered an SJ spinoff strip called "Jungle Fever," that would have a racier tone ... but in the end I decided against it. I don't think I can do "racy" over a sustained period of time. Plus I got enough flack just for the one "morning after" strip with Tiffany and Conrad in bed together... -TG

Keeping up 'racy' without falling too far to either extreme gets difficult. You'll get people pushing you harder into XXX-spooge... and others who are pushing you back into as light as possible.

My opinion: Take it where the characters and the situations lead. Don't push sex, but don't shy away from it. I thought that the 'morning after' comic was cute, and to me, it was innocent. (You really do learn a lot about a person by waking up next to them. Just ask anyone who's piling twelve-deep into a room at a con.)

Flak the morning after

You could be me, not having the primary computer at all, while a battery for it is delivered. This computer has nothing ecept AIM and a web browser. ALso, it isn't set up to know who I am, which is also a pain. But, I did get here to read your entry, so I'm not too upset. May Thursday arrive sooner than I think so my life can go back to normal. -Frisk

Relax, man, I'll see if I can get you a guest strip.

Rest up, relax, recreate and take your shoes off. :)
