Y'know, even if he hadn't left us anything else, I'd be grateful to Jim Henson for this song:

The Rainbow Connection by Paul Williams
(as performed by Kermit the Frog)

Why are there so many
songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are images
but only illusions
and rainbows have nothing to hide.

So we've been told and
some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong
wait and see
Someday we'll find it
the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers,
and me

Who said that every wish
we be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it
look what it's done so far

What's so amazing that
keeps us stargazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it
the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers,
and me

All of us under its spell
we know that it's probably magic

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound that
calls the young sailor?
The voice might be one and the same

I've heard it too many
times to ignore it
it's something that I'm s'posed to be
someday we'll find it
the rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers,
and me

Thanks!

Been looking for the lyrics to that song. Thanks! And yup, it's great. =)

I feel a bit about a stalker, writing so many darn comments in your LJ all of a sudden. Ah well, I hope you don't mind, but I'm sure it's just a phase I'm going through. The dreaded posting-comments-in-LiveJournals-to-people-you-hardly-know phase.

Anyway, have a good day/night!

That phase is very important, though. How can you get past the don't know if you don't post first? -Friski

You had to go and pick my favorite song from my child hood that I still just love like...a bunch...me and my sister and my mom...etc.. all still sing it every now and then..I ahve it on tape even....

Now there is one of those "What is a man's man doing saying that" incident if I ever witnessed one lol but it is the truth...it is a great song with a good messege....other then that my sister and I both into our early 20's still roam about the local mall singing the "are you acking (yep yep yep yep) for some bacon *(yep yep yep yep)" by Timon and Pumba from the Origional Lion king (DEATH TO CRAPPY SEQUALS!) (baring stuff like Star Trek and Star Wars..and a few others that had at least a FEW good ones).

So...great song :-D

P.S. Good comic you draw...if I could draw I would go for it..but I can only write good stuff....good luck with the job..know how it goes....I could like try and squish every comment I ever ment to post lol...but I will save space..and not crash LJ servers (pets server.."Goooodd server...") (they eat databases you know...bad temper ...lol..jk)

I got a SUBJECT mentioning. Woohoo! :D

Glad you like it. I adore that song. Have you heard the Kenny Loggins version? It's quite good.

I cried...

When I heard Jim died. I never cried over a Celebrity's death before but I did for him. He gave the world so much more then most do and he died far to soon with so much more to give us left..ungiven.

This song is just one of the best things he gave us

that and Kermit and bigbird *nods*

The loss of Jim Henson was indeed a great tragedy. But when Disney took over the production studios right afterwards, I was irate. It was an insult heaped on the injury.

I miss the joyful simplicity of Henson's older productions.

*chuckle* Well, they can't ALL be furry Irish drinking songs. ;) Besides, I'm sure this particular version of "Rainbow Connection" will go over fairly well at AC. :D - PT

Me too! I've been saddened by a few, but I've only actually cried for Jim Henson and John Denver. I *loved* the Muppet Show...I'd watch it now if someone would air it.

And the minute I saw you, Gneech, mention "Jim Henson" and "song" in the same sentence, my brain immediately started singing that song! :)
