BTW, Thank You, Everybody!
Apr. 8th, 2005 10:52 amI just want to post a little thanks for everybody who's responded to my posts about sales, the future of SJ, and so forth. The feedback really means a lot to me and is a big help in sorting out my own thoughts on the topic.
Just to make things clear, in case anybody's worried, SJ is not going to going to suddenly be retooled to include humans, start including sex scenes, turn into insult/rant humor, or anything like that. SJ is going to keep evolving, the same way it has been from the start, but one of the most important things to me is that it continues to be something I can enjoy and be proud to have done.
'cos let's face it, if I'm going to do stuff I hate and am ashamed of for money, I could make more money as an editorial cartoonist. :P
When I talk about broadening my horizons, I mean just that -- expanding, not replacing. I expect to go to AC and FC pretty much every year from now on as long as they'll have me. But in addition to those, I'm going to start looking at things like ComicCon, A-Kon, and so forth. I have been very comfortable in the furry pond, but if, as
bigtig says, I am a big fish there, then it's time that I start making additional forays into other ponds from time to time, if only to keep the furry pond from being depleted. ;)

Date: 2005-04-08 05:26 pm (UTC)As for other conventions; I think that's a good idea. Too bad this didn't come up sooner cause there's one happening not so far from you this weekend that might have been good. From everything I hear I-CON would be a good one that takes in much more then furry.

Date: 2005-04-08 05:30 pm (UTC)And if you go to A-kon, you would meet almost all fo the staff of Antarctic Press (http://www.antarctic-press.com/) there. You can't miss them with the huge AP banner that they have at their booth. Usually Fred Perry of Gold Digger and Ben Dunn of Ninja High School and Heaven Sent are there. They also do a panel or two while they're there. Usually wearing their exclusive AP hockey jerseys with a penguin on it.
