Posting/lurking around various gaming boards searching for an additional player for our group is getting very frustrating. I keep finding people in Rockville, in Arlington, in Baltimore ... all 45+ minutes away from our current Chantilly venue. As it is, [livejournal.com profile] camstone's relocation to Alexandria has made travel a major issue for him.

You'd think, as close as we are to Game Parlor, it'd be easy to find gamers. -.- There have got to be some in Fairfax/Reston SOMEWHERE!

-The Gneech

EDIT: Well, I guess I need to advertise better! It looks like we've found a player. :) Woohoo!

Travel isn't that "big" an issue for me, unless traffic sux, which in DC it usually does. (But yeah, I'm not into the game you're interested in, so it's "mox-nix.")

Locally, I know Zervon_Tora was looking for a game to join...albeit he's down in the Potomac Mills area.

Are you saying you want to play? :) We game on irregular Saturdays starting at 7 p.m., but hopefully at least once a month.

(And why didn't you say something when I posted open call for gamers last week? ;) )

Because I may have been in California with my Mrs...
And I'm all about irregular saturdays.
What gaming system?
And yes, I kinda want to play again. I miss my nerdling days.

Okay.. I looked back through your memories.

D20 style "Star Wars" Got it.

What character classes do you have/need?

Re: Okay.. I looked back through your memories.

As of this moment, the party consists of:

[livejournal.com profile] lythandra: Human Jedi Counsular
[livejournal.com profile] hantamouse: Squib Scoundrel (with a gadgeteer/fixit bent)
[livejournal.com profile] jamesbarrett: Human ______, although he favors the scoundrel class generally

Right now, I'd say the main thing the group could use would be a pilot and/or a combat monster. Somebody skilled with diplomacy (i.e., a noble) would be handy, too.

Here's the background info, such as it is:

http://rumblepurrlion.com/stuff/SW_Legacy.zip

Note that the Wookiee Scout pregenerated character has an error (I forgot to account for his armor nonproficiency in his to-hit numbers).

Pilot/Combat Monster?

So either a "Han Solo" type character, or a "Clone Wars" era Obi-Wan Kenobi-esque Jedi? (Proficient Pilot, but handy at beating people up.)

I had the idea of being a droid, but being the weirdo I am, I'd want to be an R2 unit... perhaps Designated R2-e So I could be an irrational droid...

Either would work. Han Solo had the advantage of being both a pilot and a "face"-type. There is also a "Jedi ace" prestige class... :) Something you might consider is starting out with a Soldier-classed pilot with the Force Sensitive feat, who is trying to get accepted into the Jedi Academy.

I had the idea of being a droid, but being the weirdo I am, I'd want to be an R2 unit...

Well, you can be an R2 unit if the idea really appeals to you, but it's fraught with peril! (One good memory wipe and suddenly you're a 1st level character again...) If you were going to go that route, I'd recommend the Tech Specialist class.

And here's where I lack in knowledge. I don't have -any- books on this stuff to be honest. So I'd need pointers to clue. (However, I learn fast.)

I could be an "Episode I" era Obi-esque Jedi, who's there to keep Lythandra's character safe, and also her pilot or so...

I wouldn't mind also being a slightly broken R2 unit as well (perhaps my 'main' self's personal R2 he got on the cheap... Sure, I could be reformatted... But hey, I can beep and people won't know what I mean.

Is this Light hearted? Or Serious and Gritty and Yarrr! Growl!!

Because I really want to be a faulty R2... wheeling down the hallway.. turning totally blue and going dead for a round...

From: [identity profile] the-gneech.livejournal.com
Well, we do a lot of joshing around at the table, but the game itself is usually played pretty straight for the most part. If you want to have a cheapie R2 unit NPC like a henchman, that can probably be arranged. :)

For stats, you could pretty much take the writeup for Sia-Lann Wezz in the intro packet, remove the Craft (lightsaber) and Intimidate skills, replacing them with Pilot +6 (+4 ranks, +2 Dex), leaving astrogation to the R2 unit.

The main book you'd want to pick up, if you're in a book-picking-up sort of mood, would be the revised Star Wars Roleplaying Game rulebook (the one with the Episode II Anakin and Amidala on the cover). The spaceship combat rules would be worth knowing for a budding ace pilot. :)

Right. Gotcha. And I'm gonna, if there is no objection, make the character male, and remove the Pink/Purple outfit.

While a non-trivial number of people online seem to find it cool and sexy to play a FEMALE character, while being male... I've no real intent on trying it. (gruff man voice) "Hello, my name is sara, I'm a hot bisexual jedi adept with huge boobies and a fetish for programmers with glasses."

I wanted to be a "comic relief" R2...

[R2] *beep*
[Me] No R2.
[R2] *beeeEEeeppp... beep.*
[Party] What's wrong?
[Me] He wanted me to reboot him, he's got the 'banana phone' flash stuck in his memory banks...

By all means, customize looks/name/gender to suit. :) I was just referring to the stat block. We're a remarkably non-hormonal group, as a rule.

And don't go too nuts with the R2 unit, we don't want another Jar-Jar Binks on our hands. ;)

my D&D character in Gneech's game is female while I am male, but it in no way means anything. I decided to make her female cause I had a cool fig I wanted to use and what sex she was didn't really matter. Plus, like Gneech said, we're a pretty non-hormonal group. -Frisk

Sorry, I didn't mean to slight you, there. :) Given the nature of Squibs and your past tendencies to not want to talk to NPCs if you can help it ;) I figured that your character's skills were more of a "C'mon, let's haggle!" thing than "I'll convince the Sulean Ambassador to pledge his fleet to the Alliance." If you're looking to be the silver tongue of the group, that's cool by me!

Well, my Saturdays are usually fairly booked or otherwise sacred. Plus I'm really not great within a role playing system anyway.

But hey, since you are in Chantilly, come to the Washington Webtoonists Meet at Borders in Fairfax. It's next Tuesday evening. I'll be attending my first one. Reply for details.

a) I've never heard of such a thing. Are there really that many webtoonists around here?

b) I was one of the people who opened that store! I wonder if anybody I know is still there.

Please, fire away re: details. :)

There are not that many people collected but it hasn't been going on that long. Xerexes of Comixpedia started the group then bailed out on it, but Chris and Barb picked it back up. I've been promising to come to one for some time but this'll be the first I have made it to. Should be fun. We should see about getting more people but like your gaming group it is hard to get people to slog through this area on a weeknight, especially from Maryland to Fairfax. I'm in Alexandria.

If you needed one more player, i'm used to the D20 system, and aren't usually busy on saturday nights. I'm in germantown, but i'd not mind making the trip. Hell, back in vermont, i'd make the hour trip over to plattsburgh to go gaming once a week.

Unfortunately, I only had the one slot open, and Pholph's snagged it. (Past experience has taught me to put a hard limit of four players on the table ... more than that and I can't maintain the game's focus.)

If Pholph doesn't work out for whatever reason, I'll give you a buzz! :)

Sniffle...I'm so jealous....the few that I've actually met down here lately that are into gaming in any way all want to play White Wolf, and while I do have a lot of White Wolf stuff, it's not my strong suit...that plus most of my stuff is for Mage the Ascension, and everyone else plays Vampire....even my new friend Melanie from work is only into Vampire...sigh... I SO miss roleplaying....
