Y'know, I've been named GOH for a con, that's just a few weeks away. I have a TON of stuff to do, THIS WEEK.

Thus, it is the worst possible time for me to be in a crunch at work.

Which, you guessed it, guarantees that I'll be in one.

Argh. My head hurts. -.-

What do GOH do at a con, by the way? Anything special? :) I've always been curious about it :)

It depends on the con and the guest; in my case, there'll be some "schmooze with Gneech" type panels and a few similar things. But I wanted to get a bunch of art done for the conbook and have some new merchandise for Kerry, which might not get done in time. We'll see!

Usually a lot more than one expects.

the_gneech is at least used to being "on" all weekend what with spending time behind a dealers' table, but being a GoH is draining, because you're pretty much "on" all weekend when you're out in public.

Some panels, including at least one "GoH talks about whatever crap he wants to." Definitely showing up for a few official events (opening and closing ceremonies, "meet the guests" if there is one, "brunch with the guests" if there is one). Often (but it depends on the con) masquerade judging.

I was a Fan GoH at a good-sized SF convention a few months ago. I have never been so wiped after a weekend.

Y'know, I've been curious about what it's like to be a GOH and it's not the first time I've brought it up before (I've asked the staff at C-ACE how it was like and how they pick their GOH and such, and have even posted about it in my journal once or twice) ;)
