Are Conservative Republicans Now America's Permanent Ruling Class? The good news is, no, they're not.

From the article: In 2002 here it supposedly was: the long-predicted shift to Republican Party dominance and conservative ideological hegemony. Two years later, Bush's bigger-than-expected win over Sen. John F. Kerry ostensibly confirmed that conservative Republicans had become America's ruling class.

I disagree, personally. All the 2004 election really told me was that, if they tried, the Democrats could actually nominate a candidate who could lose on any grounds whatsoever. And they proved it convincingly with this one, by choosing a candidate who could actually lose to George W. Bush on the basis of comparative military experience! (Until it was demonstrated, I did not really consider it possible...)

Mostly a pretty good article, I thought. As pointed out, I'm not in complete agreement, but there's food for thought there.

Uncle Milton also went bankrupt, I think, 6 times in his life.

That was an informative article. I may have to pick up the book.

Thanks!
