Yourself! Fitness
Focus: Core Body Strength
Duration: 30 mins
Calories Burned: 252
Result: Y'know, I don't need a computer program to tell me to do set after set of crunches for 25 minutes straight. DULLEST WORKOUT EVAR.

The only part that gave me any difficulty was the "Plank" -- which is to get into pushup position and hold it for 25 seconds (rather than moving up and down). I couldn't really do this, for the same reason I can't do pushups -- I just can't get air into my lungs in that position! I managed to hold one for 16 seconds, according to Laurie, and I considered that a major achievement.

Also, since it suddenly became May without telling anybody, we walked around Lake Thoreau this morning, which took roughly an hour. It was nice to realize we'd climbed the killer hill without even noticing it -- I guess the cardio workout really is working!

Anyway, it's off to D&D later tonight. It'll be interesting to see the players' faces when the [SPOILER] shows up, backed by a [SPOILER]!

Hm, do you normally do your workouts in the mornings? Or just whenever you have time?
I would probably benefit fromm something like that myself.. Hm.....
And yeah, pushups suck. XP
:< I wish I could join you guys for D&D... I'd be an annoying bard. Or a giant hulking half-orc with half a brain cell.

Everybody wants to be the comedy relief. :P What I could really use is more players who want to play the straight-up hero!

Oh that is so cliche! But if you're in need of one, I can be a Paladin for ya.. If I lived nearby.. :

How can it be cliché? As far as I can tell, besides myself, nobody ever in the history of gaming has played a straightforward "normal" hero-type character.

Certainly I've never seen it, except when I was the one doing it.

Well, my friend was a suave elf guy, and I was a half-elf archer.. We weren't comic relief characters. I guess that's why I want to be. Though even if we weren't, we still had comical moments..

Comedic moments are the bread and butter of my gaming experience. And I have to act as the party leader for some reason. I swear, why they think I should be in charge when I'm a goofy ferret thief-fighter, I'll never understand. Then again, at least it gives me a good reason to get us into all sorts of trouble. ^_^

Hmm.. What about a surly drunken dwarf? Is that comic relief?
Or, uh.. *ponder* I've no ideas.
Though I agree, why would a thief-fighter be in charge? I guess I'm too used to imagining Paladins and Knights to be the guys in charge.. Maybe they do need a party leader like that every once in a while.

I have, both of my characters were straight up fighters...elf or half elf, but still straight up fighters!

Well, you wouldn't want my party in your game. Considering the ferret thief-fighter is the closest thing the party has to a 'hero' and his idea of heroism is using fireworks gotten from 30 game sessions ago and uses them to blow up a badguy from underneith his table... Hehe. Yeah, I'm totally heroic, if only in a way where I shouldn't be allowed to. *snicker*

Dooka... I'm silly, I know. At least I haven't brought in this character idea I've had for a character using the rules of the bird people from the Races of the Wild with a few alterations to make a fighter moogle. ^_^ I might save that for Star Wars instead. ;)

Ooo. Ooo. I can do the straight-up hero. My dice rolling just blows, ask the group I did Living Arcanis with today. Then again, we where all stinking in the dice department.

Our wannabe Paladin was a half-orc named Floyd. He managed to attain Paladin status after about 6 or 7 years of gaming...had some major help from artifacts and special missions, along with a bronze dragon. Our DM really made him work to earn it, since he started out with the disadvantage of being half-orc...but he was extremely intelligent and so had a chance.

When I say 6 or 7 years of gaming, I mean just that, not D&D world game time, but years we played those characters. What was really neat about our group is how much our DM helped make it possible for us to develop a character so that it wasn't just a player sheet, we were encouraged to develop a history, background and full personality, and he gave us a very special NPC cleric to make it possible for us to live long enough to really be able to bring that character to life.

It also helped that he modified the lifepoint loss when the character was down...if a cleric or character trained in healing could reach the downed character before their blood loss count reached -10, then their wounds were considered bound and the counter stopped and then the cleric was given time to do healing. So technically your charcter could hit 0 HP's and into negatives, 1 HP per round unattended to, with a max of -10, before they were classified as dead and unsavable.

We paid a price for that though, afterwards our character suffered weakness and was more or less useless as a fighter for several days as a result, but I think it was a good compromise on the standard rules...and sure saved our characters from dying more than once.

I played with the group for 7 years, in that time I had the same character all the way through, and she was up to level 12 or 13 when I had to quit.
