Putting the "I" in "INFJ"
Jun. 12th, 2006 08:02 amMost of the time, I do such a good job at being sociable that it can be hard to tell that I'm an introvert. But I am; and every once in a while, I just get worn out dealing with people. Like 'em, hate 'em, doesn't matter, they just exhaust me. This is intensified when forced to deal politely with people being stupid, crass, out to lunch, or just really really childish, all of which has happened in the past week, sometimes all at the same time.
The unreasonably nice weather this weekend helped a bit, but as of this morning, my "dealing with people" reserves are still very low. Fortunately, I have Wednesday off from work to prep for AC, but in the meantime, if I seem distant, harsh, or flightly, I beg your indulgence in advance. I'm not angry, depressed, or feeling down -- I simply have limited affability reserves, and right now they are depleted. I should be in much better form by AnthroCon if not sooner.
For further reference, see Caring For Your Introvert.

Date: 2006-06-12 01:18 pm (UTC)If you've never heard of the Ditty Bops, they're a relatively new band (second album just came out about two weeks ago) whose image and sound recall the quirky carnival/ cabaret atmosphere of vintage TMBG, Jazz Butcher and Oingo Boingo. "Your Head's Too Big," in particular, has a very TMBG sound to it. Eclectic, playful, often silly but never brainless, the Ditty Bops are the best new band I've heard in years (aside, perhaps, from Thea Gilmore and her band - who exist in a totally different musical spectrum) - and they're totally up your alley!
Check out: http://dittybops.com/ and http://dittybops.com/songs.htm. Both albums (and their individual songs) can be purchased from itunes as well. If you want a sampler, I suggest the following songs:
* Your Head's Too Big
* Sister Kate
* Wishful Thinking
* Get Up 'N Go
* In The Meantime
* Ooo La La
* Angel With an Attitude
On another unrelated note, my hiking partner and occasional sweetheart nixve and I were discussing the old gaming group you guys and I used to share. (You talk about a lot of stuff while hiking for weeks through the mountains.) Anyway, I mentioned that you had a webcomic. "Hey," she says, "isn't he the guy who does Suburban Jungle?" Apparently, she's an old fan of yours. :)
Oh, and I'm having a field day with a D20 D&D game these days. Who'd have thought it?
But yeah - check out the Ditty Bops. Seriously. :)
Later!
